In the area of R&D, the NMD has participated in recent years in several successful development projects with international companies in the areas of nuclear technology, F1 racing and metallurgy.
The “Nano” PM materials based on ultrafine Aluminium powders are currently being converted into mass production and replace conventional materials due to their superior properties. Containers for dry storage of spent nuclear fuel rods are already made from the new material.
A new national cooperation project in Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) with iwb- Anwenderzentrum Augsburg / Munich Technical University and industry partners on “Methods based qualification of powdered Magnesium alloys suitable for industrial use for the Additive Manufacturing process” was submitted to the AIF. Another R&D project on “metal powders, their energy balance and its use in the field of Additive Manufacturing” is in preparation. The NMD New Materials Development GmbH is always engaged with their entire know-how, their decades of experience in the manufacture and use of metal powders, their relationships and their global network. Only in this way it was always possible to achieve positive development results within a very short time. Three recently accomplished development projects with well established international corporations in the fields of nuclear technology, car racing and metallurgy, speak for themselves. Close cooperation with renowned partners, such as the „Institute for Materials and Machine Mechanics“ (IMMM) of the Slovakian Academy of Sciences, and the Technical University in Vienna, confirm the high standards that NMD is known for.
The two Companies NMD New Materials Development GmbH and Tribotecc work closely together for the past 5 years in the field of marketing and improvement of established products such as MnS for enhancing the machinability of sintered parts in the PM industry. However, the know-how of both companies also includes the entire field of technical lubricants for example for the automotive industry.
